National publicity secretary Bolaji Abdullahi told Arise TV’s One-on-One programme on Saturday that the party’s options include direct primaries and consensus, but indirect primaries are no longer viable under the amended Electoral Act.

“We are trying as much as possible to adopt the consensus approach because that is the least costly for us,” Abdullahi said. “Our goal is to engineer consensus, and that’s what we are working on.”

Abdullahi also criticized the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), claiming the party’s strength is tied to its current leadership. “If you take power out of APC, APC is actually nothing… Post-Bola Tinubu, they will unravel quickly,” he said, describing the APC as a “special purpose vehicle” created to secure the presidencies of Muhammadu Buhari and Bola Tinubu.

He added that the APC’s visible anxiety ahead of upcoming elections reflects public dissatisfaction. “In any free and fair election today, there’s no way APC will win… Nigerians are tired of them,” he said.

The ADC platform includes presidential hopefuls such as Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Rotimi Amaechi.
