Otoge Reloaded: G15 Vows to Resist Imposition, Says Movement Is Alive

The Kwara G15 Movement has reaffirmed its commitment to what it described as the pursuit of internal democracy, inclusiveness and fairness within the All Progressives Congress (APC), assuring its members that it will continue to resist what it called undemocratic practices in the party.

In a statement jointly signed by its leaders on Sunday, the group expressed appreciation to members, supporters and stakeholders across Kwara State for their unwavering support, saying their commitment had strengthened the movement’s resolve to pursue its objectives.

The group alleged that some of its members had been subjected to intimidation, blackmail and inducements, including offers of appointments and financial incentives, aimed at weakening the movement. It, however, commended members who had remained steadfast despite the challenges.

According to the statement, such developments were expected whenever people took a principled stand, adding that they would not deter the movement from pursuing what it described as the collective interest of party members.

The G15 maintained that its movement was founded on the principles of consultation, inclusiveness, respect for party members and genuine democratic participation, insisting that leadership should emerge through fairness and the freely expressed will of party members.

The group also criticised the administration of Governor Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq, accusing it of attempting to impose candidates on the party. It vowed to continue pursuing lawful and democratic means to ensure that the voices of grassroots members are respected.

Drawing parallels with the 2019 Otó gẹ́ political movement, the G15 said the ideals that inspired the campaign had been abandoned by the current administration but insisted that the spirit of the movement remained alive.

It expressed confidence that its members would once again achieve political change through unity, peaceful engagement and grassroots mobilisation.

The group urged its supporters to remain peaceful, disciplined and organised while strengthening its structures across wards, local government areas and senatorial districts in the state.
