Makinde Inaugurates Presidential Campaign Committee
The Makinde-Daura Presidential Campaign Organisation has inaugurated its National Campaign Management Committee ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The committee was inaugurated on Tuesday in Abuja by the Allied People’s Movement (APM), with its members expected to coordinate the campaign and grassroots mobilisation across the country.
The APM vice-presidential candidate, Lawal Daura, said the campaign would focus on mobilising voters and protecting the votes cast during the election.
Daura said Nigeria required what he described as a national reset, adding that existing systems would need to be reviewed, amended, replaced or changed where necessary.
He also warned against attempts to manipulate the electoral process, saying the campaign organisation was prepared to protect its votes within the provisions of the Electoral Act.
According to him, the committee was made up of people selected based on their previous records and ability to deliver results.
The APM National Chairman, Yusuf Dantalle, charged the committee members to work towards delivering the Seyi Makinde and Lawal Daura ticket in the 2027 election.
Dantalle said members would have to manage differences that could arise from their diverse political, social and religious backgrounds.
He said the ability of the organisation to resolve internal disagreements peacefully would also demonstrate its capacity to manage the affairs of the country.
The party chairman cautioned that the inauguration should not be treated as an achievement on its own, saying the committee must translate its formation into coordinated activities across the country.
He also called for cooperation between the campaign committee and the existing structures of the party at the national, state and local government levels.
The Director-General of the committee, Felix Hyat, assured the party leadership that the members would work towards achieving the campaign’s objectives.
Hyat said the committee consisted of people with whom he had previously worked and described them as individuals committed to delivering results.
He also expressed confidence in the presidential candidate, pointing to his background in security and his experience in governance in Oyo State.
Hyat further called for consideration of regional power rotation and urged young Nigerians to examine the records and capacity of candidates before making their choices in the 2027 election.
He also appealed to voters to avoid allowing religious and ethnic considerations to determine their voting decisions.
The committee is expected to begin its campaign activities as the country moves towards the 2027 general elections.
