Oshoala scores winner as 10-man Nigeria edge Zambia 1-0 at WAFCON
Asisat Oshoala scored the decisive goal as Nigeria’s Super Falcons secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Zambia in their WAFCON clash in Morocco on Saturday night.
The former African Player of the Year found the net in the eighth minute, giving Nigeria an early lead that ultimately proved enough to claim all three points.
The Super Falcons were reduced to 10 players just before halftime after defender Oluwatosin Demehin was shown a red card in the 45th minute. Despite the setback, the Nigerian side defended resolutely throughout the second half to preserve the slender advantage.
The victory strengthens Nigeria’s chances of progressing in the tournament as they prepare for their next match against Egypt, who are still without a point after losing their opening two games.
