2027: Ajia Rallies Support for Tinubu’s Re-election in Kwara
Alhaji Ibrahim Mohammed Ajia has officially joined the All Progressives Congress (APC), pledging to mobilize support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in Kwara State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Ajia, who holds the traditional titles of Dan Amanan Fune Emirate in Yobe State and Nwanne Ukwu Di Na Mba of Amaba-Ukwu Item in Abia State, was warmly received during a visit to Mogaji Ngeri Ward. He was presented with the party’s broom symbol by the ward chairman, Alhaji Ibrahim Muritala Oforo, at the Gegele ward secretariat in the presence of party faithful and supporters.
The reception attracted prominent political figures, including Ilorin West Local Government Chairman Hon. Shehu Abdulrahman Babatunde Ladan, Senior Special Assistant (Political) Hon. Suleiman Aremu Saikai, women leader Hajia Bukola Galadima, and youth leaders Abdulwahab Abaya, among others. Party stakeholders described Ajia’s entry as a strategic advantage, noting that his extensive grassroots network and national connections could reshape political dynamics in the state, especially following his defection from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Speaking after his registration, Ajia said his decision followed months of consultation and consensus among his supporters and community leaders. He emphasized that the move was motivated by patriotism and a desire to contribute to unity, stability, and development at both state and national levels.
Drawing on his experience in the Nigeria Police Force, which he left in 2017, and his academic research, Ajia highlighted that addressing insecurity requires more than force. He stressed the importance of collaboration between communities and security agencies, intelligence sharing, and citizen participation.
Ajia expressed confidence in the Tinubu administration’s security strategy, while emphasizing that national initiatives must be reinforced by grassroots engagement. He assured APC leaders that his involvement would be active and result-oriented, promising to mobilize communities, encourage civic participation, and strengthen Kwara’s connection to the federal government.
He dismissed suggestions of personal political ambition, stating that his involvement in politics is driven by service and national interest. He urged citizens to support ongoing reforms, noting that policy changes may cause short-term challenges but ultimately lead to long-term stability.
Party supporters welcomed his entry, expressing optimism that Ajia’s expertise in security and community engagement would enhance party structures, public confidence, and governance across the state.
