EPL: Ajayi Scores as Hull City Shock Man United 2-0

Super Eagles defender Semi Ajayi was on target as Hull City stunned Manchester United 2-0 in their English Premier League opener at the MKM Stadium on Saturday.

Ajayi opened the scoring in the 17th minute, stabbing the ball into an empty net after a knockdown from a corner kick fell kindly into his path. The goal was his third in the Premier League and his first in five years.

Hull City doubled their advantage in the 38th minute when Nobel Mendy converted a well-delivered free kick.

The Nigerian defender also played a key role at the back as Hull City kept a clean sheet and comfortably protected their two-goal lead throughout the second half.

The victory was Hull City’s first-ever win over Manchester United in the Premier League and their first against the Red Devils in any competition in 52 years.

For Manchester United, the defeat marked their first opening-day loss since 2021 and their first-ever Premier League defeat to a newly promoted side.
