Manchester City continued their impressive start to the English Premier League season with a convincing 4-1 victory over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Friday night.

Erling Haaland and Ryan Cherki both scored twice as City dominated the second half to secure a comfortable win, while Gianluigi Donnarumma’s own goal provided Palace with their only response.

Haaland opened the scoring in the 17th minute, rising to meet Antoine Semenyo’s cross with a looping header. The goal was also Manchester City’s landmark 2,000th in Premier League history.

City doubled their advantage nine minutes after the restart when Cherki produced a brilliant solo effort to find the back of the net.

Palace pulled one goal back after Yeremy Pino’s free-kick struck the crossbar before rebounding off Donnarumma and into his own net.

Cherki restored City’s two-goal cushion with a deflected effort before Haaland sealed the victory six minutes from full time with a well-taken finish.

The result maintains Enzo Maresca’s perfect winning start as Manchester City manager, while Crystal Palace suffered their second defeat of the campaign and remain bottom of the league table.

Manchester City will next face Taiwo Awoniyi’s Coventry City on September 5.
