Stanley Nwabali has ended his four-year spell with South African club Chippa United. The club confirmed the exit in a statement on Thursday.

Chippa United said Nwabali requested to leave, despite having signed a three-year contract extension in 2024. The club added that it “has agreed to grant his release” and wished him success in the next phase of his career.

“We sincerely thank Stanley Nwabali for his years of service, commitment, and professionalism. His contributions to Chippa United will always be appreciated,” the club statement read.

It remains unclear whether Nwabali has joined another club, as he has not commented on his next move. However, reports suggest he is linked with potential transfers within the South African Premier Soccer League, as well as clubs in Europe and Saudi Arabia.

Nwabali joined Chippa United from Nigeria’s Katsina United in 2022. Over 70 appearances later, he became club captain in 2024 and earned the Super Eagles’ number one goalkeeper spot following a standout performance at the Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire.
