Grammy Awards: Tyla Beats Davido to Win Best African Music Performance

South African singer Tyla has emerged winner of the Best African Music Performance category at the 2026 Grammy Awards, edging out Nigerian superstar Davido and other top contenders.

Tyla clinched the award with her hit track “Push 2 Start,” triumphing over strong competition from Burna Boy (“Love”), Ayra Starr and Wizkid (“Gimme Dat”), Davido featuring Omah Lay (“With You”), as well as Eddy Kenzo and Mehran Matin (“Hope & Love”).

The category, created to celebrate and promote African music on the global stage, once again highlighted Nigeria’s dominance, with three Nigerian acts making the final shortlist.

Tyla’s victory further cements her rising influence in the global music scene and marks another milestone for African artists at the Grammys.
