Ortom Denies APC Defection, Reaffirms PDP Membership
Former Benue State Governor, Chief Samuel Ortom, has reaffirmed his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), dismissing reports that he has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Ortom, in a statement issued by his media adviser, Mr Terver Akase, said he remains a key and influential member of the PDP and the leader of the party in Benue State.
He described the defection report circulating on social media as “fake, baseless and deliberately misleading,” adding that it was a “mischievous fabrication by desperate social media urchins” allegedly sponsored by political opponents.
The former governor also faulted those behind the claim for allegedly producing a fake APC membership card and circulating it online in what he described as a failed attempt to deceive the public.
Akase stated that Ortom remains a proud and committed PDP member, as well as a respected member of the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT).
He urged members of the public to disregard the report entirely and ignore the falsehoods being spread online.
