CESVO Honours Ilorin-Born Professor, Samaru College

An Ilorin-born Professor of Agriculture, Professor Usman Ibrahim, has been named the Overall Best and Corruption-Free Provost among Colleges of Agriculture in Nigeria.

The honour was conferred by the Centre for Ethics and Self Value Orientation following a rigorous, transparent, and merit-based nationwide evaluation aimed at promoting ethical governance and accountability in public institutions.

Professor Ibrahim, who serves at the Samaru College of Agriculture under the Ahmadu Bello University, distinguished himself through exemplary performance in public accessibility, participatory leadership, ethical integrity, due process compliance, and fiscal responsibility.

His leadership was widely commended for promoting transparency, accountability, and innovation in institutional management, as well as a strong commitment to national development.

A native of Bamidele Compound in Ita-Ajia, Ilorin, Professor Ibrahim is a seasoned academic with several years of experience in agriculture. He has authored numerous scholarly journals and articles in his field.

In the same vein, Samaru College of Agriculture was ranked among the Top 10 most ethically responsible and public service ethics-compliant federal Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) in the country.

The recognition reflects the institution’s collective commitment to integrity, transparency, and service excellence. Key officials and units, including the Deputy Provost, College Accountant, Procurement Office, Security Unit, Examination and Student Affairs Offices, as well as two Heads of Departments, were also acknowledged for their contributions.

The awards underscore CESVO’s commitment to promoting integrity in public service while reinforcing trust and positioning the college as a model of ethical leadership in Nigeria’s public sector.
