Atiku Criticises Presidency Over Insecurity, Economic Hardship Remarks
Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has faulted the Tinubu administration over comments suggesting that media reports contribute to the perception of widespread insecurity in Nigeria.
Reacting to remarks by presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga, Atiku said the government should focus on addressing insecurity rather than blaming citizens and the media. He stressed that protecting lives and property is the primary responsibility of government.
The former vice-president argued that insecurity and economic hardship are realities many Nigerians face daily, citing rising food prices, inflation and declining purchasing power. He also warned that advising citizens to avoid travelling at certain hours could negatively affect economic activities.
Atiku maintained that journalists are merely reporting the experiences of Nigerians and called on the federal government to prioritise practical solutions to the country’s security and economic challenges.
