Ovie Omo-Agege Declares Senate Comeback Bid for 2027
Former Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege has announced his intention to return to the Senate, declaring a bid to represent Delta Central Senatorial District in the 2027 elections.
In a statement on Wednesday, Omo-Agege said his decision followed extensive consultations with family members, political leaders, and stakeholders across the eight local government areas in the district.
He described his ambition as a response to calls from constituents, adding that his decision is rooted in a sense of duty and commitment to service, which he referred to as “divine.”
The former lawmaker, who represented the district from 2015 to 2023, said his return bid is also aimed at supporting the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Omo-Agege emphasised the need for experienced representation for the Urhobo people at the national level, noting what he described as a growing consensus across the district.
Reflecting on his previous tenure, he said he provided impactful legislative leadership and pledged to build on that record if re-elected.
He promised to prioritise infrastructure development, improved healthcare and education, job creation, and enhanced security, while also working to attract federal projects to the region.
The APC chieftain further expressed support for the economic reforms of the All Progressives Congress-led administration, describing them as necessary despite current challenges.
He also called for unity within the party in Delta State, urging political stakeholders to approach the 2027 elections with a spirit of cooperation and healthy competition.
