Business leaders and young entrepreneurs in Kwara State have pledged to raise ₦100 million to support the governorship ambition of Saliu Mustapha ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The commitment, made under the Corporate Kwara platform, is aimed at funding the purchase of the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial nomination form.

Mustapha, who represents Kwara Central Senatorial District and chairs the Senate Committee on Agricultural Production Services and Rural Development, is regarded as a leading contender for the state’s top seat.

The group announced the pledge during a courtesy visit to the senator’s office in Ilorin. Speaking for the delegation, coordinator Abdulmajeed Olayinka Idilobe said the decision was based on Mustapha’s consistent support for entrepreneurs and business development in the state.

He noted that the lawmaker had been actively supporting business initiatives even before assuming public office, adding that his engagement with stakeholders and backing of small and medium-scale enterprises set him apart from other aspirants.

Idilobe described the ₦100 million pledge as a voluntary contribution from members of the business community, stressing that it comes with no conditions attached.

Other members of the delegation included prominent entrepreneurs such as Dr Shuiabu Abdullahi and Zurura Zubair, reflecting broad-based support across the state.

Responding on behalf of the senator, Executive Assistant Alabi Abdulkareem expressed appreciation for the gesture, describing it as a strong endorsement of Mustapha’s leadership. He added that the senator’s entrepreneurial background continues to influence his pro-business policies.

Abdulkareem also urged continued support for the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that recent economic reforms are contributing to improvements in the business environment.
