Wolves Relegated from Premier League

Wolverhampton Wanderers have been relegated from the English Premier League following a goalless draw between Crystal Palace and West Ham United on Monday night.

The result confirmed Wolves as the first team to drop out of the top flight this season. West Ham’s point from the match moved them to 33 points in 17th place, while Wolves remain bottom of the table with 17 points. Even if they win their remaining five matches, they can no longer catch the Hammers.

The Midlands club will now return to the Championship after spending eight consecutive seasons in the Premier League. Their campaign has been largely disappointing, managing just three wins and eight draws from 33 matches.

Wolves endured a historically poor start, picking up only two points from their opening 18 games — the worst start ever recorded in England’s top division. The departure of key players such as Matheus Cunha, Rayan Aït-Nouri, and Rúben Neves also weakened the squad, contributing to their struggles, including failing to keep a clean sheet in the first half of the season.

It took Wolves 20 matches to secure their first league victory, and they have suffered 22 defeats overall.

Head coach Rob Edwards had earlier acknowledged the club’s situation after a 3-0 loss to Leeds United, admitting relegation had been looming.

“It’s been a long time coming. The situation has been difficult throughout the season,” he said, while assuring supporters that efforts would be made to secure a quick return to the Premier League.
