The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has assured Abuja residents that political activities ahead of the 2027 general election will not affect the execution of ongoing projects in the territory.

Wike gave the assurance on Wednesday while inspecting several projects across parts of the FCT. He said he has the capacity to manage political matters while still delivering meaningful projects for the people.

According to him, politics has its own time, but development work must continue without interruption.

“I assure you, politics is not going to affect my work. The only way it will affect work is to make people happy by ensuring that the Renewed Hope Agenda is real and working,” he said.

The former Rivers State governor added that consistent payment of contractors and regular supervision remain key to ensuring timely project delivery.

During the inspection, Wike expressed satisfaction with the construction of the road linking Baze University, the Body of Benchers, Nile University, and the Wupa Light Rail Station in the Idu area of Abuja. He said the contractor promised to complete the project by May, adding that it would be inaugurated as part of activities marking the third anniversary of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Wike also inspected the Body of Benchers extension building and praised the progress, noting that the project was about 80 percent completed, with only landscaping left.

In addition, the minister visited the ongoing construction of a 7-kilometre road linking the Airport Road to Tunga Madaki and other surrounding communities. He said the road project is part of the FCTA’s promise to improve infrastructure and access for residents in the area.
