Super Eagles Draw Mozambique in 2025 AFCON Round of 16
Nigeria’s Super Eagles are set to face Mozambique’s Mambas in the Round of 16 at the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.
The matchup was confirmed after Mozambique finished third in Group F following a 2–1 defeat to Cameroon, but still advanced as one of the four best third‑placed teams in the group stage.
Nigeria, by contrast, topped Group C with a perfect record, winning all three of their group matches to secure nine points and book their place in the knockout phase.
The last time Nigeria and Mozambique met at the AFCON was in 2010, when the Super Eagles recorded a 3–0 victory — with Peter Odemwingie scoring twice and Obafemi Martins adding another.
