Man United sack Ruben Amorim, appoint Fletcher as interim manager
Manchester United have dismissed Ruben Amorim from his role as the club’s manager.
The English club announced the manager’s exit in a statement on Monday.
Amorim leaves Manchester United after 14 months in charge of the club.
“With Manchester United sitting sixth in the Premier League, the club’s leadership has reluctantly made the decision that it is the right time to make a change,” the club statement reads.
“This will give the team the best opportunity of the highest possible Premier League finish.”
Darren Fletcher, former United midfielder and the club’s U-18 coach, will take interim charge of the first team’s next match against Burnley.
Amorim was dismissed following a meeting with Jason Wilcox and Omar Berrada, United’s executives, where he was officially informed.
