JUST IN : Ilorin Emirate gets new Chief Imam
The Emir of Ilorin, Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, has approved the appointment of Muhammad Bashir Dasuki as the new Chief Imam Fulani of the Ilorin Emirate.
The appointment was announced in a statement issued by the Emir’s Personal Assistant, Abdulraheem Muritala, who disclosed that Sheikh Dasuki emerged successful after a competitive selection process involving several Islamic scholars.
Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Dasuki, 42, hails from a respected lineage of Islamic leaders in Ilorin. He is the grandson of the 8th Chief Imam Fulani of Ilorin, Sheikh Ibrahim Dasuki Imam Fulani Agaka, and the son of the 10th Chief Imam Fulani, Sheikh Maliki bn Dasuki Agaka.
Before his appointment, he served as the founder and proprietor of Darul Bisharah Arabic and Islamic Studies in Airport, Egbejila, Ilorin. He also led daily prayers and Jumu’ah services at Afsat Oloriegbe Memorial Mosque, Oko-Olowo, Ilorin, while contributing to Islamic education through teaching and radio programmes.
The new Chief Imam holds academic qualifications in Islamic studies from several institutions, including Al-Azhar University, where he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Islamic Shari’ah, and Al-Hikmah University, where he is pursuing a Master’s degree in Islamic Studies.
Speaking on the appointment, the Emir prayed for Allah’s guidance, wisdom, good health, and long life for the new Chief Imam as he assumes the spiritual leadership role within the Ilorin Emirate.
The Emir also expressed confidence in Sheikh Dasuki’s ability to provide sound religious guidance and contribute to the growth and unity of the Muslim community across the emirate.
The appointment takes immediate effect.
