I May Not Be Alive to contest in the 2027 General Election – Peter Obi
The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has expressed fears over his safety, saying he may not be alive before the 2027 general election due to what he described as persistent harassment by the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Obi made the remarks during an interview with media entrepreneur Chude Jideonwo, where he alleged that the federal government has been deliberately frustrating his means of livelihood and targeting opposition figures.
According to the former Anambra State governor, every aspect of his professional life has come under pressure, claiming the alleged actions of the government have made ordinary activities increasingly difficult.
“The way they are going… not even as a candidate, I might not even be alive. I’m telling you,” Obi said, adding that he believes the government is behind many of the challenges he has encountered.
He further alleged that members of the opposition are being singled out for intimidation and claimed he has been denied certain privileges he is entitled to.
Obi also recalled an incident at the Lagos airport where his vehicle was clamped for alleged wrongful parking despite other vehicles being parked in the same area. He said the experience reinforced his belief that he is being unfairly targeted.
The former governor also claimed that some people who know him now avoid greeting him publicly for fear of being associated with him.
The Federal Government has not responded to Obi’s allegations as of the time of filing this report.
