Davido Announces Break From Music Amid Adeleke’s Re-Election Campaign
Grammy-nominated Nigerian singer, Davido, has revealed that he is taking a temporary break from making music.
The award-winning artiste made the announcement during a livestream in Osun State, where he addressed fans who had been asking about the release of new songs.
According to Davido, he decided to step back from recording because his songs are already dominating clubs and music playlists.
“Stop asking me when I am dropping songs. I’m on a musical break. If you go to the club right now, out of twenty songs, ten are mine,” he said.
The singer is currently in Osun State in support of the re-election campaign of Governor Ademola Adeleke, who is also his uncle.
In April, Davido was appointed as the head of youth mobilisation for the Accord Party’s campaign council after Adeleke defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the Accord Party.
Earlier this week, the singer also inaugurated the Imole Youth Mobilisation Campaign Council ahead of the forthcoming Osun governorship election.
Sharing updates on X, Davido said he officially received his Accord Party membership card and expressed confidence in Adeleke’s re-election chances.
The singer rose to prominence in 2012 with the release of ‘Dami Duro’, one of the hit tracks from his debut album, Omo Baba Olowo.
Over the years, Davido has grown into one of Africa’s biggest music stars and remains one of Afrobeats’ celebrated “Big Three.”
