The Africa Youth Advance Mentorship Initiative (AYAMI), a flagship youth development programme of the African Youth Leadership and Advancement Network (AYLAN), has officially announced the opening of applications for its 2026 Fellowship Cohort.

In a statement released on behalf of the initiative, Abdulrahman Raheem, Founder of the Africa Youth Advance Mentorship Initiative and Chairman, Board of Directors of the African Youth Leadership and Advancement Network, disclosed that applications will officially open on January 10, 2026, and close on February 20, 2026.

According to the statement, the Africa Youth Advance Mentorship Initiative is a high-impact, values-driven leadership fellowship designed to mentor, equip, and inspire a new generation of young African leaders who are committed to service, ethical leadership, innovation, and community development.

The initiative brings together a carefully selected cohort of young people from diverse backgrounds across Africa for an intensive, residential, week-long mentorship experience.

“The Africa Youth Advance Mentorship Initiative was conceived out of a deep conviction that Africa’s future leadership must be intentional, disciplined, mentored, and rooted in strong values,” Abdulrahman Raheem said. “This fellowship is not just a programme; it is a leadership journey that prepares young people to think critically, lead responsibly, and contribute meaningfully to nation-building and Africa’s development.”

He further noted that the fellowship will feature high-level leadership sessions, critical thinking workshops, mentorship engagements with experienced leaders, policy and development conversations, community engagement and outreach activities, as well as structured peer learning and reflection. The programme will also include a dedicated day for community development service and another for cultural exposure and bonding, culminating in a formal graduation ceremony.

The 2026 cohort will admit a maximum of fifty (50) fellows, who upon completion of the programme will become members of the AYAMI Alumni Network; a growing community of young leaders committed to lifelong learning, collaboration, and impact across Africa.

Abdulrahman Raheem emphasized that the initiative is open to young people who demonstrate leadership potential, a passion for service, and a strong desire to contribute to societal development. “We are looking for young Africans who are not waiting for change but are ready to become the drivers of change in their communities, institutions, and nations,” he added.

Interested applicants are encouraged to apply within the stated application window, as late submissions will not be considered. The application process is competitive and merit-based, reflecting AYAMI’s commitment to excellence, integrity, and impact.
