Kwara Attack: Turkey Sends Condolences, Reaffirms Support for Nigeria
Turkey has expressed condolences to Nigeria over the deadly terrorist attack in Worro and Nuku communities of Kaiama Local Government Area in Kwara State, which reportedly left 75 residents dead.
Rauf Ajakaye, chief press secretary to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, told TheCable that the victims, believed to be Muslims, were allegedly killed for rejecting a “strange” Islamic doctrine introduced by the attackers.
Following the incident, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ordered the deployment of an army battalion to Kaiama and described the assailants as “heartless” for targeting vulnerable communities.
In a statement on Thursday, Turkey’s foreign ministry said it was “deeply saddened” by the loss of lives, condemned the attack, and pledged continued support for Nigeria’s fight against terrorism.
Tinubu recently visited Turkey, where both countries signed nine agreements to strengthen bilateral relations, including one focused on defence cooperation.
