Tinubu Begins Three-Week Leave, Heads to London for Working Vacation

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commenced a three-week leave and is expected to depart Abuja for London, United Kingdom, on Sunday.

Presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga announced the development on Sunday, stating that the president’s leave would be spent as a “working vacation” in Europe.

According to Onanuga, London will be Tinubu’s first destination before he proceeds with other engagements during the period.

“President Tinubu is expected to return home after the working vacation to join the hectic campaign for the January 2027 election,” the presidential spokesperson said.

The president’s 2026 leave comes after Vice-President Kashim Shettima recently concluded a two-week vacation.

Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications in the Office of the Vice-President, had described Shettima’s leave as his first since assuming office.

Shettima, however, returned to the country on August 18, two days ahead of schedule.

Tinubu also embarked on a 10-day annual vacation in September 2025, during which he visited the United Kingdom and France. The trip was similarly described as a working vacation.
