Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has dismissed reports that he plans to leave the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general election.

In a statement issued on Monday by his Special Adviser on Media and Strategy, Prince Daniel, on behalf of the AWT Media Office, the reports circulating on social media were described as false and baseless.

The statement said the former Sokoto State governor had no intention of joining the APC, adding that his longstanding relationships with politicians across party lines should not be interpreted as evidence of an impending political realignment.

According to the media office, photographs and video clips circulating online did not prove that Tambuwal was negotiating to defect to the ruling party.

It explained that exchanging greetings or interacting with members of other political parties should not be mistaken for a change in political allegiance.

The statement maintained that Tambuwal remained committed to the ADC, with his focus on strengthening the party, promoting broad cooperation and mobilising Nigerians ahead of the 2027 general elections.

It also urged Nigerians to pay greater attention to the country’s economic, security and governance challenges rather than engage in speculation about politicians’ affiliations.

The media office further stated that the senator remained committed to accountable leadership, democratic values and the welfare of Nigerians.

It urged media organisations and social media commentators to verify reports concerning Tambuwal with his media office before publishing them, warning against presenting speculation as established fact.
