Salah to Leave Liverpool at End of Season
Liverpool have confirmed that Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah will leave the club at the end of the 2025/2026 season, bringing an end to a remarkable nine-year spell at Anfield.
The Premier League side announced the development in a statement on Tuesday, noting that the 33-year-old has agreed to terminate his contract early, despite it originally running until June 2027.
According to the club, the decision was made mutually, with Salah opting to make the announcement early out of respect and transparency for the supporters.
“Mohamed Salah will bring the curtain down on his illustrious career with Liverpool FC at the end of the 2025/2026 season,” the statement read. “He has reached an agreement with the club to conclude a remarkable chapter at Anfield.”
Salah, who joined Liverpool from AS Roma in 2017 for £34.3 million, leaves as one of the club’s most decorated players. During his time at the club, he won nine major trophies, including two Premier League titles and the UEFA Champions League.
Despite a relatively underwhelming campaign this season — where he started 19 of 31 league matches and endured a 122-day goal drought — Salah’s legacy at Liverpool remains firmly intact.
The Egyptian international also amassed over 60 individual honours, including four Premier League Golden Boot awards, and currently ranks third on Liverpool’s all-time goalscorers list.
In a video shared on his social media platforms, Salah expressed heartfelt appreciation to the club, his teammates, and the fans for their support throughout his stay.
