Sanusi to Remain Emir of Kano — Gov Yusuf

Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has dismissed speculations that Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II may be removed following his recent defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The governor said Sanusi’s position as Emir of Kano remains secure and unchanged.

Speaking through his spokesperson, Sanusi Bature, Yusuf said there was “absolutely no plan or agreement” to alter Sanusi’s status, stressing that his reinstatement followed due legal process after the repeal of the Kano Emirate law.

Yusuf added that the emirate issue was not part of any political deal and urged the public to disregard rumours linking Sanusi’s fate to ongoing political realignments, while appealing to all parties to prioritise peace and stability in Kano State.
