Senator Mourns as Ilorin-born Islamic Scholar, Prof. Badmas Yusuf Dies

The Senator representing Kwara Central Senatorial District, Mallam Saliu Mustapha, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of renowned Islamic scholar and academic, Professor Badmas Olanrewaju Yusuf.

Professor Yusuf, who was until his death the Chief Imam of Al-Hilal Crescent Jumu’ah Mosque and former Dean of the Postgraduate School, University of Ilorin, passed away on Friday after a brief illness.

Reacting to the loss, Senator Mustapha described the death as shocking and devastating, especially as it came at a time the Ilorin Emirate is still mourning the demise of its Chief Imam. He noted that the late scholar was a towering figure in Islamic scholarship, education, and community service.

The Senator extended his condolences to the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari; the Kwara State Government; the University of Ilorin community; the Ilorin Emirate Professors’ Association; the Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU); the Council of Ulamas; and the family of the deceased.

According to him, Professor Yusuf’s death is a great loss to the Ilorin Emirate, the academic community, and the Muslim Ummah, describing him as a man of humility, deep knowledge, and selfless service.

Senator Mustapha prayed that Almighty Allaah forgives the shortcomings of the late scholar, grants him Al-Jannatul Firdaus, and comforts his family, students, and associates.
