MC Oluomo reaffirms NURTW presidency, dismisses Baruwa takeover claims
Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, has reiterated that he remains the National President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), rejecting claims that Tajudeen Baruwa has taken over the union’s leadership.
Reports had emerged that Baruwa assumed control of the union’s national secretariat, citing court rulings he believes support his position. The development has since heightened tensions within the NURTW, with both sides laying claim to the leadership.
In a statement posted on his Instagram page, MC Oluomo described the reported takeover as “forceful,” stressing that the legal dispute over the union’s leadership is still ongoing.
He argued that he was not a party to the court judgment being referenced and, therefore, it cannot be used to remove him from office. According to him, the matter remains before the court and should follow due legal process.
“The National President wishes to inform members and the general public that he was not a defendant in the purported judgment. The judgment has been appealed, and a stay of execution has been duly entered,” the statement read.
He added that he has not engaged Baruwa or any other party due to the pending litigation, noting that security agencies are monitoring the situation.
MC Oluomo further called on union members nationwide to remain calm and avoid actions that could escalate tensions across motor parks.
Reaffirming his stance, he maintained that he remains the legitimate National President of the NURTW.
