Court Grants Malami, Son, Wife N500m Bail Each
A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has granted bail to Abubakar Malami, former Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), in the sum of N500 million.
In a ruling delivered on Wednesday, Justice Emeka Nwite also granted bail to Malami’s son, Abdulaziz Abubakar Malami, and his wife, Asabe Bashir Malami, with each defendant required to meet the same bail conditions.
The court ordered that each of the defendants produce two sureties in like sum. The sureties must own landed property within Asokoro, Maitama or Gwarimpa areas of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Malami and the other defendants were arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged money laundering involving N8,713,923,759.49. All three defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The anti-graft agency also alleged that properties valued at N212 billion are linked to the former AGF.
Recall that on December 30, 2025, the court ordered the remand of the defendants at the Kuje Correctional Centre pending the hearing and determination of their bail applications.
