Popular Nigerian comedian and actor, Samuel Perry, widely known as Broda Shaggi, has finally spoken publicly after months away from the spotlight, expressing gratitude to fans who remained loyal to him throughout his absence.

The skit maker, who has noticeably stayed away from public events, comedy shows, social gatherings and his usual online activities in recent months, admitted that he had not been able to connect with his supporters the way he desired.

In an emotional message shared on his WhatsApp channel on Friday, Shaggi thanked fans who continued to check on him, show him love and support him despite his prolonged silence.

According to him, their patience and unwavering loyalty meant more than he could fully express.

“To everyone who’s still here… waiting, checking in, showing love, and holding me down even through the silence, thank you. I don’t think y’all truly understand how much that means to me,” he wrote.

“Even when I haven’t been able to show up the way I wanted to, knowing that y’all are still here has meant more than I can put into words.”

Although the comedian did not reveal the reason behind his absence, he said he was not yet ready to share the full story of what he had been going through.

He, however, hinted that he would eventually open up and expressed hope of returning soon to the work he is known for.

“I wish I could tell y’all everything right now… but I can’t. Not yet. Just know I haven’t forgotten about you, and I haven’t stopped thinking about the day I can finally come back and really be ME with y’all again. I’m hoping that day comes soon.”

Shaggi also assured fans that his eventual return would be stronger and better, promising to make up for the time he had spent away from the scene.

“And when it does, I promise I’m coming back better, stronger, and ready to make up for all this lost time,” he added.

He ended the message with a heartfelt appreciation to his supporters.

“Thank you for staying. Thank you for being patient with me. Thank you for still being here.”

The message comes months after reports of an alleged shooting incident involving the comedian sparked concern among fans.

At the time, the Ogun State Police Command said it had begun investigating claims that Shaggi sustained a gunshot injury while filming a comedy skit around the Sango-Ota area. However, the command later stated that it could not confirm that the incident occurred within Ogun State and urged the public not to spread unverified information.

The Lagos State Police Command also disclosed that detectives were informed by a hospital treating a gunshot victim later identified as Shaggi. Police said he had an injury to his thigh, though the reported location of the incident was outside Lagos jurisdiction.

Despite the widespread speculation, neither Shaggi nor his management provided a detailed public account of what happened.

His disappearance from public appearances, comedy performances and regular social media activities subsequently fueled concerns about his wellbeing.

Friday’s message marks Shaggi’s most significant public communication in months, though he stopped short of explaining the cause of his absence. Instead, he focused on appreciating his fans and assuring them that he had not forgotten them.

Known for his energetic skits, comic character and appearances in several Nigerian entertainment productions, Broda Shaggi rose to prominence through social media comedy and has built a large following across multiple platforms.

For now, fans are left waiting for the full story he says he will one day share — and for his return to the comedy scene.
