Adeleke Urges Osun Residents to Vote, Protect Their Ballots

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has called on residents of the state to come out en masse for the August 15 governorship election and safeguard their votes in line with democratic principles.

In a statement issued on Friday by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, the governor made the appeal during visits to the palaces of the Ajalaye of Ipetu-Ijesha and the Elegboro of Ijebu-Ijesha.

Adeleke visited the traditional rulers alongside his cousin, Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, as part of efforts to rally support for his re-election campaign.

Accompanied by leaders of the Imole Campaign Council, the governor urged voters to exercise their constitutional right without fear, insisting that no individual or group could deny the people of Osun their democratic rights.

Echoing Davido’s earlier appeal, Adeleke stressed that free and fair elections remained the inalienable right of the people and expressed confidence that Osun residents were prepared to protect those rights during the poll.

At the palace of the Ajalaye of Ipetu-Ijesha, Oba Adeleke Oke praised the governor for what he described as outstanding performance over the past four years and assured him of the support of his subjects in the coming election.

The monarch also hosted a special interfaith prayer session for the success of the Accord Party in the governorship contest.

“You will win a second term and achieve even more than in your first tenure. My people are eager to remain part of the positive developments in the state,” the royal father said.

Speaking at campaign rallies in Ipetu-Ijesha and Ijebu-Jesa, Adeleke expressed confidence in victory and urged supporters to intensify mobilisation ahead of the election.

“Your security is assured and your safety is guaranteed. Mobilise your relatives and friends. Vote for good governance and for more dividends of democracy,” he said.

Addressing supporters in both communities, the governor added, “Ijesa people and Osun people cannot be intimidated. We are courageous people. Vote and defend your votes.”
