Kwara PDP governorship candidate denies link to viral ritual video

The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Kwara State, Engr. Sulaiman Bolakale Kawu, has denied any connection with a viral video allegedly linking his 2027 governorship ambition to ritual activities, describing the claims as false, mischievous and politically motivated.

The denial followed the circulation of a video on social media involving one Alhaji Saheed Ishola, popularly known as LogunOfe, who was alleged to have made comments and engaged in activities purportedly related to ritual sacrifice in connection with the 2027 governorship election.

The controversy emerged amid an earlier viral report claiming that some PDP supporters visited a shrine in Ogun State to pray against individuals opposed to the political ambitions of former Senate President Bukola Saraki and Bolakale Kawu.

In a statement issued on Saturday by his media office, Kawu said he had no relationship whatsoever with the individual featured in the video or with the alleged activities associated with him.

The statement said, “Engr. Sulaiman Bolakale Kawu has no connection whatsoever with the said individual’s utterances or his alleged actions. Any attempt to associate the PDP governorship candidate with such conduct is false, mischievous and should be disregarded in its entirety.”

It added that Alhaji Saheed Ishola, also known as LogunOfe, neither speaks for, works for, represents nor acts on behalf of Kawu or his campaign team in any capacity.

The media office further stated that Kawu had never authorised, sanctioned or approved anyone to make such statements or engage in such activities on his behalf.

Reaffirming his religious beliefs, the statement described Kawu as a devoted Muslim who does not subscribe to ritual, fetish or diabolical practices.

“Engr. Kawu is a devoted Muslim whose faith is firmly rooted in the absolute oneness and sovereignty of Almighty Allah. He neither associates partners with his Creator nor subscribes to any form of ritual, fetish or diabolical practice,” the statement said.

According to the media office, Kawu places his trust entirely in God and believes that victory, honour and authority come only by divine will.
It also stressed that his governorship ambition is motivated by a desire to serve the people of Kwara State through purposeful leadership, responsible governance and people-centred development, and not by desperation for political office.

The statement added that the campaign remains focused on restoring security, rebuilding public confidence, promoting prosperity and protecting the future of residents of the state.

The media office urged the public to ignore attempts to link Kawu or the PDP to the alleged ritual activities shown in the viral video, insisting that those behind the claims were pursuing their own agenda.

It concluded that Kawu remains committed to a peaceful, issue-based campaign anchored on integrity, respect for the rule of law, faith in God and the democratic will of the people.
