APC Wins Five of Six By-Elections as INEC Announces Results

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the winners of the senatorial, federal constituency, and state assembly by-elections conducted across several states on Saturday, with the All Progressives Congress (APC) securing victory in five of the six contests.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) claimed the only non-APC victory, winning the Rivers South-East Senatorial District seat.

APC Wins Enugu North Senatorial Seat

In Enugu State, APC candidate Asogwa Ikeje Israel emerged victorious in the Enugu North Senatorial District by-election after polling 162,360 votes. His closest challengers trailed significantly, with the National Democratic Coalition (NDC) securing 3,129 votes, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) 1,676 votes, and the Labour Party (LP) 1,027 votes.

Danladi Envulu-Anza Takes Nasarawa North

The APC also retained the Nasarawa North Senatorial District seat as Danladi Envulu-Anza won the by-election conducted to replace the late Senator Godiya Akwashiki.

Announcing the result in Akwanga, Returning Officer Prof. Aminu Ali declared Envulu-Anza winner after he secured 45,362 votes. Labour Party candidate Labaran Maku polled 12,931 votes, while PDP’s David Ombugadu garnered 11,570 votes.

APC Sweeps Ondo South Contest

In Ondo State, Dayo Faduyile of the APC won the Ondo South Senatorial District by-election with 68,474 votes. The election was held to fill the vacancy created by the appointment of former senator Jimoh Ibrahim as Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations.

The result was announced in Okitipupa by the Returning Officer, Prof. Gbenga Solomon-Ibileye.

PDP Secures Rivers South-East Seat

The PDP recorded its lone victory in Rivers State, where Olaka Nwogu won the Rivers South-East Senatorial District by-election with 47,961 votes.

INEC Returning Officer Rosemary Ogu announced the result on Sunday, declaring Nwogu winner ahead of APC candidate Osarosaka Ebenezer, who polled 1,647 votes.

The election was conducted following the death of former senator Barinada Mpigi.

APC Wins Kano Federal Constituency By-Election

Rabiu Shuaibu of the APC was declared winner of the Dawakin Kudu/Warawa Federal Constituency by-election in Kano State after securing 35,356 votes.

Returning Officer Prof. Umar Sani said Shuaibu satisfied all legal requirements and was duly elected to represent the constituency in the House of Representatives.

APC Claims Kebbi Assembly Seat

In Kebbi State, APC candidate Rabiu Aiki won the Zuru State Constituency by-election with 4,871 votes, defeating Labour Party candidate Aliyu Muhammad, who received 168 votes.

INEC disclosed that 109,385 voters were registered for the election, while 5,156 voters were accredited. The commission recorded 5,055 valid votes, 95 rejected votes, and a total of 5,150 votes cast.

With the victory, Aiki will represent Zuru Constituency in the Kebbi State House of Assembly.

The results underscore the APC’s dominance in the by-elections, with the ruling party securing five of the six seats contested across the country.
