Chelsea Sack Rosenior After Poor Run
Chelsea FC have parted ways with manager Liam Rosenior after just three months in charge following a string of disappointing results.
The club confirmed his exit on Wednesday, citing performances that “fell below the necessary standards.”
Rosenior’s dismissal comes a day after Chelsea’s 3-0 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion, a result that saw the team equal an unwanted record of five consecutive league losses without scoring for the first time since 1912.
Calum McFarlane has been appointed interim manager until the end of the season.
Rosenior, who took over on January 6 after replacing Enzo Maresca, managed 11 wins in 23 matches across all competitions. During his short stint, Chelsea slipped to seventh in the English Premier League, denting their hopes of qualifying for the UEFA Champions League.
The club also endured a humiliating 8-2 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, one of their worst European performances.
McFarlane had earlier taken temporary charge in January, overseeing a draw against Manchester City and a defeat to Fulham FC.
