2027: We’ll Deliver 1.5 Million Votes for Tinubu/Shettima, Ajia Says as He Sets Up KATS in Kwara South

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and National Coordinator of the Kwara Alliance for Tinubu/Shettima (KATS) 2027, Dr. Ibrahim Muhammed Ajia, has expressed confidence that Kwara State will deliver at least 1.5 million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima in the 2027 general elections.

‎Ajia made the declaration on Sunday, September 6, 2026, in Ajase-Ipo, Kwara State, while addressing journalists shortly after a strategic stakeholders’ engagement with selected APC stakeholders and representatives from the seven local government areas of Kwara South.

‎The engagement marked the commencement of the alliance’s grassroots mobilisation structure in the southern senatorial district, with Ajia revealing that similar engagements would be held across other parts of the state before the movement’s statewide launch.
‎
‎According to him, the initiative was conceived by critical APC stakeholders who believe there is a need to build a broad-based grassroots alliance capable of mobilising voters and ensuring a strong electoral support for the Tinubu/Shettima ticket in 2027.
‎
‎“We are members of the APC and stakeholders in Kwara. We came together with the opinion that we need to galvanise votes across the grassroots for Mr. President,” Ajia said.
‎
‎He explained that the alliance had earlier commenced consultations with critical stakeholders in Kwara Central and had now extended the initiative to Kwara South, where representatives of the seven local government areas agreed to work together towards the same objective.
‎
‎Ajia disclosed that the group would next take its stakeholders’ engagement to Kwara North before returning to Ilorin (Kwara Central) for the formal launch of the movement as a statewide platform dedicated to mobilising support for the re-election of President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima.
‎
‎While acknowledging the gap between the number of registered voters and actual voter turnout in previous elections, Ajia said KATS would focus extensively on addressing voter apathy and increasing participation at polling units.
‎
‎He noted that available electoral figures from the last election cycle showed that Kwara had a significantly higher number of registered voters than the number who eventually turned out to vote.
‎
‎“We are working with records and documents. In the last election, we had about 1.6 million registered voters in Kwara, but during the election, we discovered that only about 400,000 or less turned out,” he said.
‎
‎Ajia said the alliance was awaiting the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)’s final figures from the recent Continuous Voter Registration exercise, adding that the new figures would help the group fine-tune its mobilisation strategy.
‎
‎He, however, maintained that KATS was setting an ambitious target of delivering 1.5 million votes to the Tinubu/Shettima ticket.

‎“We are now ready to deliver at least 1.5 million votes for Mr. President in the 2027 election,” he declared.
‎
‎Beyond political rallies and conventional campaign activities, Ajia said the alliance would adopt a polling-unit-based strategy aimed at identifying the reasons behind voter apathy and encouraging registered voters to participate on election day.
‎
‎“We are setting up our machinery to find out why people don’t come out to vote on election day. These are the things we are going to do. We will put our officials across polling units and start activities that will make sure that the turnout on election day is massive,” he stated.
‎
‎Drawing a comparison with voter turnout in Osun State, Ajia argued that Kwara, given its population and voter base, could achieve a significantly higher turnout if effective mobilisation mechanisms were put in place.

‎Ajia also said KATS would make the achievements and policies of the Tinubu administration a central part of its grassroots engagement, citing developments in education and workers’ welfare, as well as the impact of the removal of fuel subsidy, as issues the alliance intends to discuss with voters during its mobilisation campaign.

‎According to him, the alliance’s strategy would involve engaging voters directly and presenting what it considers the achievements and benefits of the Tinubu administration.
‎
‎The KATS National Coordinator further emphasised that the alliance would work with the existing APC structure rather than operating as a parallel political organisation.
‎
‎Meanwhile, Kwara South APC stakeholders; Hon. Imran Adebisi (Oyun LG), Hon. MK Olayemi (Oke Ero), Hon. JK Oladele Ogundele (Isin), Hon Enny Oyeleke (Ifelodun), Hon. Chief Mrs Abidoye Moradeyo Onijo (Irepodun) Hon. Akor Ezekiel (Ekiti) and Hon. Aderibigbe Moshood (Offa) in their separate remarks pledged to mobilise and campaign vigorously for the re-election bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice Kashim Shettima in the forthcoming general elections.

‎Following the engagement at Ajase-Ipo, Dr. Ajia attended the meeting of Ajia for Asiwaju Women forum at Ajia Ogbonde compound in Ilorin West and at Ibagun Ward in East Local Governments where he expressed appreciation to the group members and party faithfuls for their unalloyed support and unwavering commitment to the re-election bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima.

‎Addressing his supporters at both meetings, the KATS National Chairman, Hon. Ajia charged them to sustain their grassroots mobilisation efforts and intensify their campaign for the success of the Asiwaju/Shettima in the forthcoming 2027 general elections while pledging his continued supports and empowerment for the members of the forum.

‎Ajia expressed confidence that the coordinated approach, coupled with increased voter mobilisation and grassroots engagement, would strengthen the APC’s electoral prospects in Kwara and contribute to President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima securing a second term in office.
