2027 : Turaki-Led PDP Leadership Meets Jonathan in Abuja

The leadership of the Kabiru Turaki-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Friday held a closed-door meeting with former President Goodluck Jonathan at his residence in Abuja.

Although the details of the meeting were not made public, reports indicate that discussions centred on the recent Federal High Court judgment involving the party’s leadership dispute.

On July 17, the Federal High Court in Abuja dismissed a suit filed by the PDP’s Board of Trustees (BoT), which sought an order compelling the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognise the Turaki-led interim National Working Committee (NWC) of the party.

The meeting comes amid the lingering leadership crisis within the PDP, which has remained divided into rival factions.

In May, the Turaki-led faction announced former President Jonathan as its presidential candidate for the 2027 general election following the ratification of his nomination at a special national convention.

However, the faction aligned with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, remains the one officially recognised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
