Yusuf Buhari Wins APC House of Representatives Ticket in Katsina

Yusuf Buhari, son of Nigeria’s late former President Muhammadu Buhari, has emerged as the winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives primary election for the Sandamu/Daura/Mai’adua Federal Constituency in Katsina State.

The primary election, held on Saturday, saw Yusuf defeat his opponent, Auwal Daura, after polling 6,386 votes against 322 votes.

Party officials described the exercise as peaceful and transparent, with delegates from Sandamu, Daura and Mai’adua local government areas participating in the voting process.

Speaking after the exercise, one of the supervising officials, Ibrahim, said the outcome reflected the wishes of APC members across the constituency.

He noted that Yusuf Buhari’s victory further highlighted the political influence and goodwill associated with the Buhari family in Katsina State.

Although Yusuf Buhari had yet to officially react to the result as of the time of filing this report, supporters and party loyalists were seen celebrating shortly after the announcement.

With the victory, Yusuf is expected to represent the APC in the 2027 general elections for the federal constituency seat.

The constituency has 21,855 registered voters, while 6,837 delegates were accredited for the primary election. A total of 6,708 votes were cast during the exercise.
