The personal assistant to late gospel singer ToluwaniSings, Babadunni Olayemi, has revealed that the singer was taken to between seven and eight hospitals in Ibadan, Oyo State, after he suddenly collapsed, but efforts to get him medical attention were unsuccessful.

According to the aide, some hospitals reportedly turned them away, while others said doctors were unavailable because of an ongoing strike.

ToluwaniSings, whose real name was Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji, died on Wednesday, October 14, 2026.

The gospel singer was popular for songs such as A Very Big God and Onibuore. Reports also indicated that he had performed at a worship programme a day before his death.

Speaking about the incident on Thursday, October 15, Babadunni said he was not around when the singer collapsed in the morning but rushed to the scene after receiving a phone call.

He explained that he immediately went to the scene after he was informed about what had happened.

The aide said, “When it happened in the morning, I wasn’t here, so they called me and I came.”

Babadunni disclosed that the singer had appeared healthy before the incident and that those around him tried to revive him before taking him to different hospitals.

He said there was no obvious sign that the gospel musician was seriously ill before he suddenly collapsed.

According to him, efforts to save the singer involved rushing him from one hospital to another in search of medical attention.

He said, “There was nothing wrong with him. He was very fine and in perfect condition. He just slumped. They tried to resuscitate him. They went helter-skelter.”

The aide explained that the situation became more difficult when they arrived at hospitals and were unable to secure the treatment the singer needed.

He said some of the hospitals blamed the doctors’ strike for their inability to provide medical attention, while others did not admit the singer.

Babadunni added that they continued searching for help despite the challenges, but their efforts did not save the musician.

He said, “Some said doctors were not working because of the strike. Some did not admit him at all. That is how it went. We tried our best, including prayers. We took him to up to seven to eight hospitals in Ibadan, but God said his time was up.”

The aide also disclosed that the singer’s body had been taken to a mortuary following his death.

He said members of the family were present and were trying to cope with the loss while making arrangements for the next steps.

According to Babadunni, the family would hold a meeting to discuss the situation and decide on the necessary arrangements.

He explained that the decisions concerning the late singer’s body and other matters would be made after the family had completed its discussions.

He said, “The family members are here. So, we are all just managing the situation, as the body is currently at the mortuary. Once the family members hold their meeting and are clear on things, that is when we will know the next step to take.”

He added that the family was yet to conclude the necessary arrangements and would determine what to do after further consultations.

The singer’s death was earlier confirmed by his family, as news of his passing spread among fans and members of the gospel music community.

ToluwaniSings had gained recognition among gospel music lovers through songs such as A Very Big God and Onibuore, which were known among worshippers.
