UCL: Real Madrid Thrash Man City 3–0 in Last 16 First Leg

Real Madrid defeated Manchester City 3–0 in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 clash on Wednesday at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.

Uruguayan midfielder Federico Valverde scored a stunning first-half hat-trick within 22 minutes to give the Spanish giants a commanding advantage ahead of the second leg in Manchester.

Despite missing key players including Kylian Mbappé and Jude Bellingham, Madrid produced one of their best performances of the season.

Vinícius Júnior missed a second-half penalty that could have extended the lead, while goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois made key saves to keep a clean sheet.

City striker Erling Haaland was largely kept quiet by Madrid’s defence as the hosts secured a dominant victory before the return leg.
