Tinubu doesn’t trust me because I once worked for Obi – Cubana
Celebrity socialite and businessman, Cubana Chief Priest, has revealed why he believes President Bola Tinubu does not fully trust him politically.
The nightlife entrepreneur, whose real name is Pascal Okechukwu, recently failed to secure the APC ticket for the Orsu/Orlu/Oru East federal constituency seat in Imo State ahead of the upcoming elections.
Although he earlier stated that he voluntarily withdrew from the race after discussions with party leaders over zoning arrangements, Cubana has now opened up on another reason he believes worked against him.
Speaking during a live Twitch session with streamer Peller, the socialite said his past support for Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi during the 2023 elections may have affected how Tinubu views him.
According to him, the president sees him as an Igbo man who once worked for Obi, making it difficult for him to gain full political trust within the ruling party.
“Tinubu does not really trust me because I once worked for Peter Obi during the last election,” he said.
Cubana also stated that despite his previous support for Obi, he does not believe the former Anambra governor has what it takes to win the 2027 presidential election.
He explained that politics is about strategy and careful calculation, adding that he does not want to repeat past mistakes.
“Peter Obi cannot win. I don’t see him ready. The people who are more prepared will win,” he added.
The socialite further disclosed that party leaders advised him to step aside during the primaries because “it was not yet his time.”
Earlier this year, Cubana Chief Priest was appointed Director of the City Boy Movement (CBM) in Imo State.
