Vice President Kashim Shettima has reassured Nigerians of President Bola Tinubu’s determination to secure the safe return of schoolchildren and other victims abducted in different parts of the country.

Shettima gave the assurance on Friday in Abuja after a special Jumat prayer held at the National Mosque to commemorate this year’s Democracy Day celebration.

According to the Vice President, the Tinubu administration remains resolute in its efforts to restore peace, security, and stability across the country.

“I want to assure Nigerians of President Tinubu’s unwavering commitment to restoring peace and stability in the nation. No matter how long the night is, it must give way to the light of dawn. Stormy as the weather may be, it will not rain forever,” he said.

He stressed that the Federal Government is committed to tackling insecurity and ensuring the protection of lives and property nationwide.

Shettima’s remarks come amid growing concerns over recent abductions, including the kidnapping of schoolchildren and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State. In response, President Tinubu recently approved the recruitment of 1,000 forest guards to strengthen security operations and curb criminal activities in vulnerable communities.

The Vice President urged Nigerians to continue praying for peace, unity, and stability, noting that the values and bonds that unite the nation are stronger than the differences that divide its people.

He also paid tribute to the sacrifices of past heroes whose contributions helped sustain Nigeria’s democratic journey.
