Tinubu Arrives in Saudi Arabia for Lesser Hajj
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has arrived in Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah, also known as the lesser Hajj, as part of a scheduled religious pilgrimage to the holy city of Makkah.
The President arrived at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah on Thursday evening, where he was received by Nigeria’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Yakubu Gambo, and the Saudi Head of Royal Protocol, Ahmad bin Thafir.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, explained that the visit would provide Tinubu with an opportunity for spiritual reflection, worship and prayers for Nigeria.
According to Onanuga, the President will undertake the religious rites of Umrah while seeking divine guidance and blessings for the country and its citizens.
He added that the pilgrimage would also provide an opportunity for the President to pray for Nigeria’s peace, unity, stability and continued development.
President Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria next week after completing the religious exercise.
