Our Party’s Doors Are Open to Kwankwaso – APC Chairman
The All Progressives Congress (APC) remains open to welcoming former Kano State Governor and 2023 New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) presidential candidate, Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, the party’s National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has stated.
Speaking in an interview with Trust TV on Sunday, Yilwatda made the comments amid growing political shifts in Kano State, following Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s recent defection from the NNPP to the APC, which also drew several members of the State House of Assembly and House of Representatives to the ruling party.
“Our doors are still open for Kwankwaso. If he chooses to join, he will be most welcome,” Yilwatda said, adding that no formal negotiations are underway.
The remarks come amid speculation that the APC is working to consolidate its political influence in Kano, a key battleground ahead of the 2027 general election.
Yilwatda also defended President Bola Tinubu’s frequent foreign trips, describing them as strategic efforts to boost Nigeria’s global standing and attract investment.
“Because of his experience, exposure, and connections, what he can accomplish in a day would take most of us years,” Yilwatda said, stressing that the President’s travels are acts of national service, aimed at fostering economic growth and enhancing security cooperation.
“For a man to travel, negotiate bilateral agreements, and attract investment for the country, should we take that for granted?” he asked.
