No Attempt to Poison Tinubu at Aso Rock — Aide
Bayo Onanuga, aide to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has dismissed viral claims alleging that kitchen staff at Aso Rock were arrested or involved in an attempt to poison the president.
In a terse post shared on his X account on Sunday, the presidential aide described the report as fake and urged Nigerians to disregard it.
“No Aso Rock kitchen staff arrested. No Aso Rock kitchen staff attempted to poison President Tinubu. Please ignore this fake news being disseminated by this video,” he said.
The rumour gained traction on Facebook, Instagram and X following the circulation of a 90-second video containing a montage of unrelated scenes, including kitchen activities, official meetings and vehicles arriving at a government facility. The video featured a voiceover alleging that a presidential chef had been arrested over a supposed poisoning plot.
According to the narrator, the alleged arrest followed intelligence reports of suspicious activities linked to food preparation within restricted presidential areas, prompting swift intervention by security agencies.
However, the presidential aide refuted the claims, insisting that no such incident occurred and advising the public not to be misled by unverified online content.
