Nigeria Will Overcome Security Challenges — Sanwo-Olu
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has expressed confidence that Nigeria will overcome its current security challenges, urging citizens to remain united and support ongoing efforts to combat terrorism and criminal violence across the country.
In a statement issued on Friday, Sanwo-Olu said recent security incidents in parts of the country should not weaken the resolve of Nigerians, stressing that the fight against insecurity should not be viewed through political or partisan lenses.
The governor noted that criminal elements target citizens regardless of their political affiliations, adding that national unity is crucial in the effort to restore peace and security.
He also sympathised with victims of recent attacks and offered prayers for the teachers and students abducted in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
“We are Nigerians. Our will is strong and our spirit is unbreakable,” he said.
Sanwo-Olu described every loss of life as a tragedy and called for solidarity with communities affected by violence. He added that Nigeria has overcome difficult periods in the past and would emerge stronger from its current security challenges through resilience, courage and unity.
The governor urged citizens to support security agencies through vigilance and intelligence sharing, maintaining that government alone cannot defeat criminal networks without the cooperation of local communities.
He reaffirmed his confidence in the leadership of President Bola Tinubu and the capacity of the nation’s security and intelligence agencies to tackle terrorism and protect lives and property.
Sanwo-Olu also commended security personnel for their sacrifices and encouraged Nigerians, particularly young people, to remain hopeful despite the challenges facing the nation.
According to him, Nigeria will ultimately prevail because the collective strength of its people is greater than the agenda of those seeking to spread fear and despair.
