Nigeria Too Great to Be Intimidated, We’ll Overcome Insecurity – Oluremi Tinubu
First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has urged Nigerians to remain hopeful and continue praying for the country as efforts intensify to tackle insecurity nationwide.
Speaking during a meeting with members of the Ekiti State Traditional Rulers’ Council at the Government House in Ado-Ekiti, Mrs Tinubu said President Bola Tinubu is working tirelessly to address the nation’s security challenges.
According to a statement issued by her Senior Special Assistant on Media, Busola Kukoyi, the First Lady acknowledged that the current security situation is troubling but expressed confidence that ongoing interventions by security agencies and international partners would restore peace.
She disclosed that countries such as the United States and France are supporting Nigeria’s efforts to combat insecurity, noting that some of those responsible for the unrest are not Nigerians.
Mrs Tinubu described Nigeria as a blessed nation that cannot be intimidated by security threats, expressing optimism that the country would soon overcome its current challenges.
She also called on Nigerians, particularly women, to continue praying for the nation and its leaders.
As part of efforts to support women economically, the First Lady announced a N100 million business recapitalisation grant for 2,000 petty traders in Ekiti State. Each beneficiary will receive N50,000 under the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), aimed at strengthening women-owned businesses and promoting economic growth.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Ekiti State Traditional Rulers’ Council and Ogoga of Ikere-Ekiti, Adejimi Alagbado, commended the policies and programmes of the Tinubu administration.
The monarch, however, appealed to the federal government to intensify efforts to curb insecurity, citing incidents of kidnapping in Ekiti and other parts of the country.
The First Lady was accompanied by the wife of the Vice-President, Nana Shettima; Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim; and APC National Women Leader, Mary Alile Idele.
