Kano Emirship Tussle to End Soon – Kano Government
The Kano State Government has assured residents that the protracted Emirship tussle in the state will soon be resolved, with indications that some of the contenders are willing to step down peacefully for the sake of unity.
The State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Waiya, disclosed this while addressing journalists in Kano on Wednesday.
According to Waiya, the leadership crisis within the Kano Emirate Council will be resolved amicably through dialogue, mutual understanding, and family consensus, despite the matter currently being before the court.
“All these issues will be resolved peacefully. Some of the contenders will, on their own, decide to step down for the other because they now see themselves as one family and are ready to place Kano above personal interests,” he said.
He added that other outstanding concerns would also be addressed through dialogue and understanding.
The Commissioner further expressed his personal view that, if he were in the position of the Deputy Governor, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, he would consider resigning.
Waiya based this opinion on the fact that the majority of members of the State Executive Council have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), leaving the Deputy Governor as the only exception, noting that key government decisions would now be taken within that political framework.
