Saraki Loses Father-in-Law as Otunba Adekunle Ojora Dies at 93
Otunba Adekunle Ojora, the Otunba of Lagos and Lisa of Ife, has died at the age of 93.
His passing was announced by the family in a statement issued on Wednesday.
In the statement, his daughter, Mrs Toyin Ojora-Saraki, wife of former Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, said the elder statesman died peacefully and would be buried in Lagos in accordance with Islamic rites.
“With total submission to the will of Almighty Allah (SWT), the Ojora family of Lagos announces the passing of our beloved patriarch, Otunba Adekunle Ojora, the Otunba of Lagos and Lisa of Ife, who returned to his Creator early this morning,” the statement read.
The family expressed gratitude to Allah for a life well lived, quoting Qur’an 2:156, and prayed for the repose of his soul in Aljannah Firdaus.
Ojora is survived by his wife, Erelu Ojolape Ojora, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
A respected boardroom figure, Otunba Ojora had a distinguished career spanning journalism, public service, politics, and corporate leadership in post-independence Nigeria. He served in several influential positions and played prominent roles in Lagos and Yoruba traditional institutions.
