INEC Denies Fresh Voters Registration
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has warned Nigerians against a fraudulent website falsely claiming that the commission has commenced a fresh nationwide online voter registration exercise.
The electoral body said the fake website is being circulated online with claims that Nigerians can register as voters between September 28 and October 27, 2026.
INEC identified the platform as a TinyURL link carrying the name of the commission but said it has no connection with the electoral body.
The commission advised Nigerians to avoid accessing the website or submitting their personal details through the platform.
INEC said people who provide their information on the fraudulent website could expose their sensitive data to criminals who may collect or misuse it.
The electoral body also clarified that the nationwide voter registration exercise had already ended on July 26, 2026.
According to INEC, claims that a new nationwide online registration exercise is currently taking place through the circulated website are false.
The commission urged Nigerians to be careful when coming across information about voter registration, particularly messages shared through social media and other online platforms.
INEC advised members of the public to obtain information about voter registration and other electoral activities only through its verified communication channels.
The commission also provided contact details for Nigerians who may need clarification or wish to make enquiries about electoral matters.
Members of the public can contact the INEC Call Centre on 0700-CALL-INEC, use the short code 4632, or call 090844444333 and 09050858629.
INEC can also be contacted through iccc@inec.gov.ng, while information about its activities is available through its official website and news portal.
